Everton’s Predicted XI Against Liverpool: Final Goodison Park Merseyside Derby

Liverpool XI vs Everton: Expected lineup, confirmed team updates, and injury news for today’s Premier League clash

Arne Slot aims to bounce back after draw with Newcastle

As Liverpool prepares for the first Merseyside derby of the season, they will be missing several key players.

The Premier League leaders had their winning streak interrupted by a thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle on Wednesday, yet they still hold a seven-point advantage over Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, Arne Slot faces a challenging situation ahead of the team’s final league visit to Goodison Park.

Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister will be unavailable for the Everton match due to suspension after receiving a yellow card against Newcastle, bringing his total to five for the season.

In addition to Mac Allister, Slot is already without defenders Ibrahima Konate, Conor Bradley, and Kostas Tsimikas, while Alisson Becker, Federico Chiesa, and Diogo Jota are still working on regaining their fitness.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, who started on the bench during the Newcastle match, may be reinstated in the lineup, potentially alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz.

Unfortunately, none of the injured players are expected to return.

Liverpool’s predicted XI: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz

Injured players: Konate, Bradley, Tsimikas, Jota, Alisson, Chiesa.

As Everton prepares to host Liverpool at Goodison Park for the last time in the Premier League on Saturday, they are expected to maintain the same lineup that triumphed over Wolverhampton Wanderers with a 4-0 victory on Wednesday.

Unless unforeseen injuries arise, Sean Dyche’s team is likely to field the same starting eleven.

Following a tactical adjustment after their 4-0 defeat to Manchester United, Dyche introduced Orel Mangala in place of Jesper Lindstrom.

This change allowed Iliman Ndiaye to shift to the right flank, Dwight McNeil to move wide, and Abdoulaye Doucoure to advance further up the pitch.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also returned to the starting lineup, taking the position ahead of Beto.

However, both strikers will face competition from Armando Broja, who made a notable return from a four-month injury layoff with a strong performance off the bench, although it may be premature for him to start in this match.

Youssef Chermiti is still a week or two away from his return, and James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam are also expected to take a similar amount of time to recover.

Despite their potential return, it may be challenging for them to replace Mangala, who delivered an impressive performance on Wednesday, providing much-needed stability in midfield and scoring a goal for a team that had struggled to find the net.

Ashley Young, at 39 years old, was named Man of the Match, becoming the fourth-oldest goalscorer in Premier League history and the oldest in Everton’s history with his early free-kick goal.

Doucoure’s advanced positioning has proven beneficial, as Everton has not secured a league victory without him in the lineup for over two years.

A total of four goals, a solid defensive display, and a commendable overall performance from the team should earn them all a place in the starting lineup for the derby, while Lindstrom and Jack Harrison are likely to remain on the bench once more.

Potential starting lineup for Everton:

Pickford; Young, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Ndiaye, Gueye, Mangala, Doucoure, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin.
