Arsenal has provided an update regarding the injuries of Thomas Partey and Mikel Merino following their 5-2 triumph over West Ham.

Mikel Arteta provided an injury update on Riccardo Calafiori, Thomas Partey, and Mikel Merino following Arsenal’s victory over West Ham.

The team is now set to face Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The club confirmed that Partey sustained a muscle injury prior to the match on Saturday.

He had been a key player in Arsenal’s 5-1 victory against Sporting CP in the Champions League earlier in the week and was anticipated to retain his position in the lineup for the London Stadium encounter.

Although Partey traveled with the team for the late kickoff, he was not included on the bench as Mikel Arteta’s squad delivered another strong performance against West Ham.

Merino, who had come on as a substitute in the previous match against Sporting, also missed the West Ham game due to a knee problem.

“Unfortunately, both players picked up injuries,” Arteta stated before the match. “The timing of the game was not ideal for them to be part of the squad.”

After the victory, Arteta explained that both players were ruled out following Friday’s training session.

“The team is in good form, with high energy and quality. We had to adapt our play today, and we succeeded,” Arteta remarked.

“We made necessary adjustments, and despite losing key players, the team remained unaffected.

“Jorginho stepped up and was exceptional, and Jakub and Alex also performed well.”

“Now we have momentum, the energy is high. Let’s enjoy tonight, watch some great football tomorrow, and prepare for Wednesday.”
