Mikel Arteta emphasizes the need for Arsenal to prioritize the acquisition of a “top-quality” forward.

The Arsenal manager has reportedly identified Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as his primary target for bolstering the attack.

The Gunners are in search of enhanced offensive options, as Arteta has become somewhat dependent on Bukayo Saka, who has logged significant playing time at a young age.

Meanwhile, Kai Havertz appears to be filling in as a makeshift striker rather than performing in his preferred role.

As per TEAMtalk, Isak has emerged as Arsenal’s leading candidate to strengthen their forward line, and it is likely that other clubs are also monitoring the situation of the Swedish international at Newcastle.

Although Isak has yet to extend his contract at St James’ Park, the urgency may not be pressing, given that his current deal runs until 2028.

TEAMtalk indicates that while securing Isak may be challenging, it is not deemed impossible, with Arteta clearly communicating to the Arsenal board his desire to acquire the 25-year-old.

Could Alexander Isak be the key addition Arsenal needs?

When in form, Isak is a thrilling player to watch, and links to a prestigious club like Arsenal are expected given his accomplishments at Newcastle.

The former Real Sociedad forward boasts an impressive tally of 40 goals in 78 appearances for NUFC, and club legend Alan Shearer has lauded him on the BBC as being “of the highest quality” across the board.

Shearer remarked, “His whole game is really, really top notch. His runs are superb.

If you just watch how clever he is when he doesn’t get the first pass played in, he then goes behind a defender to come back in and bend his run to make sure that he is onside, then he can make a really clever finish.”

Columnist Charles Watts, an Arsenal supporter and journalist, has also noted that Isak appears to be an ideal match for the Gunners.
