Liverpool has finalized a £20.8 million agreement to acquire a player at a reduced price – the deal is complete.
Liverpool has reached an agreement for a £20.8 million fee to acquire a player at a discounted rate – the deal is finalized.
The club has been in search of a long-term successor for Virgil van Dijk, with several center-backs being considered, including Loic Bade.
Earlier reports suggested that Liverpool was interested in signing the French defender, who has a release clause of £50.1 million.
However, due to Sevilla’s financial difficulties, he can be signed for a lower price.
According to the Spanish outlet TDF, Liverpool has successfully negotiated a fee of £20.8 million (25 million euros) for Loic Bade from the La Liga team.
The report indicates that Sevilla initially sought 30 million euros but ultimately agreed to a discounted price, leading to the near completion of the deal.
Aston Villa also showed interest in signing Bade, but Liverpool has secured the agreement for the Olympic Silver Medalist.
This season, the 24-year-old has started eight league matches for Sevilla, contributing to three clean sheets.
However, he has been sidelined recently due to a muscle injury and was unable to join the France national team.
Although Didier Deschamps included him in the squad during the international break, he remained on the bench and is still awaiting his senior international debut.
Currently, Liverpool boasts significant quality and depth in central defense, featuring players like Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, and Quansah.
Nonetheless, the management must plan for the future, especially since Joe Gomez was linked with a transfer away from Anfield last summer, and Virgil van Dijk, who will turn 34 next year, is nearing the end of his contract.
Do you believe Loic Bade possesses the necessary qualities to succeed at Liverpool?
