Slot must promptly consider releasing the 6/10 Liverpool player who has struggled significantly, losing 86% of his duels, as his performance is falling short of expectations.

Slot is required to take immediate action to cut ties with the 6/10 Liverpool player who has an 86% failure rate in duels.

Arne Slot should consider parting ways with Jarell Quansah, a 6/10 Liverpool player who has struggled significantly, winning only 14% of his duels.

Liverpool prepared for their upcoming Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion by eliminating the same team from the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Slot must be pleased, especially since he embraced the concept of rotation, which he has been hesitant to implement since taking charge in the summer.

Although Brighton made a late push, turning a straightforward win into a tense finish, Liverpool held their composure and secured a 3-2 victory, with Luis Diaz’s late goal clinching the fourth-round win following a remarkable brace from Cody Gakpo.

Quansah found himself at the center of the late-game anxiety and will be disappointed that he could not impress Slot after limited appearances this season.

Quansah missed his opportunity

In the opening week, Quansah was given a significant opportunity, starting alongside Virgil van Dijk in Liverpool’s Premier League debut against Ipswich Town.

The 21-year-old showed promise last season but was substituted at halftime during that August match, as Slot expressed frustration over the team’s struggles in duels.

Liverpool ultimately won the match, but the 6-foot-5 defender has not seen any first-team action since.

During the match against Brighton, he performed reasonably well alongside Joe Gomez but made a critical error late in the game, contributing to Simon Adringa’s goal in the 80th minute, which narrowed the scoreline and raised concerns within the Liverpool camp.

His misplayed back pass directly led to the goal, and he was substituted shortly after, making way for Ibrahima Konate in the closing moments.

It is evident that he has yet to win over his new manager, but there is still ample time for the young talent to refine his promising abilities.

Quansah’s performance should not be overshadowed by a single mistake, especially considering he won both of his duels according to Sofascore and made four clearances. It’s important to avoid misrepresenting his contributions based on one error.

Moreover, he was not the weakest link in the defense during last night’s match. Andy Robertson once again failed to meet expectations and is rapidly losing his status as the preferred left-back.

The case for Slot to decisively remove Andy Robertson from the lineup is compelling. Since joining Liverpool from Hull City for a mere £8 million in 2017, Robertson has been a key player, delivering performances that have become integral to the team’s success.

However, time catches up with everyone, and although Robertson is only 30, he seems to have exhausted himself after years of relentless effort on the pitch.

His 2023/24 season has been challenging, marred by a shoulder injury that sidelined him for a significant period, and he has struggled to find his best form under Slot’s management.

In the match against Brighton, the Scotland captain was inconsistent and was repeatedly challenged by the agile Tariq Lamptey, making the same errors he exhibited against Bukayo Saka of Arsenal the previous week.

The Liverpool Echo’s Ian Doyle rated his performance at 6/10, acknowledging some ‘hesitant defending coupled with strong attacking play.’

However, given Slot’s emphasis on robust defensive performance, he is unlikely to be pleased with Robertson’s alarming statistic of losing 86% of his duels.

Robertson’s days of dynamic play and impressive defensive contributions are behind him. This season, he has struggled with ball-carrying, averaging only 0.2 dribbles per Premier League match and not even attempting one against Brighton.

Kostas Tsimikas has stepped up significantly in recent weeks, proving to be a capable alternative. However, it remains clear that strengthening the left-back position will be a key focus in upcoming transfer windows.

At present, Robertson will still receive ample playing time for Liverpool, but his performance is waning, and he did not help his case on Wednesday night.
