Liverpool’s attacking pair absent from training ahead of Champions League clash.

Following a weekend absence, Darwin Nuñez has returned to training with the squad, while Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa were not present during preparations for the match against Bologna.

On Wednesday night, Liverpool will host Bologna FC at Anfield for their first Champions League home game under new head coach Arne Slot, marking the Reds’ second match in the group stage.

In terms of injuries, there is a mix of good and potentially concerning news for Slot’s squad. Darwin Nuñez, who missed the weekend match against Wolves due to illness, has rejoined his teammates for full training today.

Conversely, the absence of striker Diogo Jota and forward Federico Chiesa from training raises doubts about their availability for the upcoming European fixture at Anfield.

While the depth of Liverpool’s squad mitigates concerns over minor injuries that could sideline Jota and Chiesa for a few days, the team’s schedule becomes increasingly demanding after the October international break, making any significant issues worrisome.

Following the match against Bologna, Liverpool will travel to London to take on Crystal Palace on Saturday.

They will resume action on October 20th against Chelsea, followed by matches against Leipzig, Arsenal, Brighton (twice), Leverkusen, and Aston Villa over the next three weeks.
