Trent Alexander-Arnold has expressed his enthusiasm for the future at Liverpool, despite ongoing speculation regarding a potential transfer to Real Madrid.

The right-back, who hails from Merseyside, has been with Liverpool since he was six years old and has accumulated 315 first-team appearances since making his debut in 2016.

Regarded as one of Europe’s premier right-backs, particularly for his creativity, Alexander-Arnold has contributed 19 goals and 82 assists for the club, playing a vital role during the Jurgen Klopp era.

At just 25 years old, he has already secured eight trophies with Liverpool, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and two EFL Cups, and he aims to add to this tally under the guidance of new head coach Arne Slot this season.

Nonetheless, there is considerable speculation regarding his long-term future at Anfield, as his current contract is set to expire in June 2025.

Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid has shown a strong interest in Alexander-Arnold, with the club reportedly in discussions with him about a possible transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish giants have identified the England international as a key target for their upcoming summer transfer window.

Despite this, Alexander-Arnold has hinted at his commitment to Liverpool, stating that he is “excited” about the club’s future following a discussion with Slot.

After Liverpool’s 3-1 victory against AC Milan in the Champions League, Alexander-Arnold shared his thoughts with reporters, stating, “I felt a surge of excitement to work under a new manager for the first time.”

He added, “After discussing with the manager, I was thrilled about the plans and the vision he conveyed.”

Looking ahead to more trophies with Liverpool, the right-back elaborated on the club’s aspirations in both the Premier League and Champions League this season, expressing to CBS Sports, “This club has a rightful place in the Champions League, given its illustrious history, and it was disappointing not to participate last year.”

He continued, “Now we are back where we belong, and there’s no better way to kick off this campaign than with a victory at the San Siro—a remarkable venue, a historic stadium, and an incredible result.”

Alexander-Arnold also highlighted the tactical adjustments made during matches, explaining, “There are numerous tactical shifts: knowing when to advance, when to hold back, when to stay wide, when to drop into defense, when to move into midfield, or when to play as a high winger when Mo [Salah] cuts inside.”

He noted, “There are various scenarios, and [Slot] provides us with that guidance throughout the week and during the game, preparing us for different situations. He outlines scenarios so we know how to respond, ensuring we are positioned correctly based on their pressing style.”

Additionally, Alexander-Arnold is not the only player at Liverpool facing speculation about a potential exit, as key figures like star forward Mohamed Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk are also in the final year of their contracts.
