Arsenal is reportedly considering a bold move to acquire another former Manchester City player as they aim to equip Mikel Arteta with the necessary resources to secure the Premier League title.

The Gunners are exploring the option of a free transfer to bring in a former Manchester City star, who earns £325,000 per week.

In their recent north London Derby, despite missing several key players due to injuries and suspensions, Arsenal managed to secure a 1-0 victory against Tottenham, thanks to a header from Gabriel. This win propelled them to second place in the Premier League after four matches.

Even in the absence of stars like Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice, Arsenal’s disciplined defensive display prevented Tottenham from creating significant scoring opportunities.

The Gunners capitalized on their set-piece advantage to score the only goal of the match in the second half, with Gabriel finding the net.

While doubts remain about Arsenal’s ability to sustain a title challenge for a third consecutive year, their strong start to the season suggests they will only improve as injured players return to the squad.

In their pursuit of strengthening the team further, Arsenal is now linked with a potential transfer for former Manchester City star Leroy Sane, who currently plays for Bayern Munich.

Reports indicate that Arsenal is among three clubs closely watching Sane, who has just one year left on his lucrative £325,000-a-week contract with Bayern and has not yet agreed to an extension.

Although Bayern Munich has initiated discussions to renew Sane’s contract, there are concerns that these negotiations may falter, particularly if it requires a reduction in his salary to remain with the club.

He has not yet participated in this season, having undergone groin surgery during the summer and only resuming training shortly before the international break.

Additionally, there may be ongoing concerns regarding his role at the Allianz Arena, as Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Mathys Tel, and new signing Michael Olise are all competing for the two wide positions in Vincent Kompany’s squad.

Despite this, he has received considerable acclaim during his tenure at the club.

In November 2023, Thomas Tuchel remarked, “Physically, he’s an exceptional athlete. He can execute our strategies like very few others. Alongside his natural talent, his physical fitness is outstanding.”

Nevertheless, with Sterling’s loan at Arsenal set to conclude in the summer of 2025, a free transfer for Sane could serve as an ideal replacement, allowing one former Manchester City player to take the place of another in north London.
