Liverpool star has ‘refused’ contract extension so far amid Real Madrid transfer interest…

Liverpool player has not accepted a contract extension to date.

Liverpool management is keen to secure the player’s long-term commitment.

The Liverpool star has so far declined to accept a contract extension amid interest from Real Madrid regarding a potential transfer.

Liverpool faces a potential challenge in retaining one of its academy products as Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly declined to sign a contract extension amid interest from Real Madrid, as reported by Spanish outlet SPORT (via Paisley Gates).

The 25-year-old is currently contemplating his future at Anfield.

With his contract set to expire in June, the situation remains uncertain for the player.

If an agreement on an extension cannot be reached, Liverpool risks losing him without compensation in June 2025.

The club must make a strategic decision regarding Alexander-Arnold if they are unable to finalize terms for a new deal.

January may present the last chance for Liverpool to secure a transfer fee for his services.

In July, Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes commented on the matter, stating, “I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to discuss contractual situations.

These are private matters between the club and the players. My primary concern, shared by Arne (Slot) and the rest of the squad, is ensuring total commitment from the players for the upcoming season, and we are fully confident that this is the case.”

Alexander-Arnold has spent his entire career at Liverpool, progressing through their youth system.

He has been a consistent presence at various youth levels before establishing himself in the first team. To date, he has made 313 appearances across all competitions, scoring 19 goals.

He has participated in every match of the current Premier League season under Arne Slot.

His recent performance for England in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland caught attention, with Gary Lineker praising his contributions on the Stick to Football podcast: “It’s fantastic to see Trent in the lineup.

Some of his passes were exceptional, especially the one he delivered to Anthony Gordon that led to the first goal. What a pass! It makes me wonder how this player isn’t a regular in the team; he’s incredibly talented.”

It seems that our primary focus has often been on Trent’s defensive shortcomings when discussing his role with England.

While he may occasionally make a defensive error, he compensates for it by creating two or three scoring opportunities due to his exceptional skill with the ball.

Losing Alexander-Arnold would represent a significant setback for Liverpool if he were to depart.

He has already secured the league title, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Champions League during his tenure with the club.

Real Madrid might view him as a valuable addition to strengthen their squad as they aim to maintain their supremacy under Carlos Ancelotti.

The prospect of playing alongside stars like Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior could be quite enticing for him. Meanwhile, Liverpool is determined to sustain their strong start to the season.

Slot’s team will return to action after the international break with a home match against Nottingham Forest this weekend, aiming to preserve their momentum.
