Late offer :Arsenal is currently in advanced negotiations with a striker valued at £60 million, facilitated by his agents, while Edu prepares to make an offer – Report
Arsenal is currently engaged in discussions with a £60 million striker through his representatives, as sporting director Edu Gaspar strategizes for a potential bid ahead of the transfer deadline.
The north London club has been active in the closing days of the transfer window, recently finalizing a deal for midfielder Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad after extensive negotiations.
The Spanish international will don the number 23 jersey for Arsenal and may make his Premier League debut against Brighton, with manager Mikel Arteta expressing enthusiasm about Merino’s addition.
“Mikel is a player who will enhance our squad with his quality, experience, and versatility,” Arteta stated regarding the signing.
“He has competed at the highest levels in both club and international football for several seasons. Mikel will significantly strengthen our team with his technical skills, along with his positive character and leadership.
“As demonstrated during the summer, Mikel is a proven winner, having played a key role in Spain’s success at the Euros. We are thrilled to welcome Mikel and his family to the club and look forward to collaborating with him.”
Additionally, Arsenal has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to acquire Neto from Bournemouth as a possible replacement for Aaron Ramsdale, as noted by Fabrizio Romano.
However, this transfer will only proceed if a deal for Joan Garcia of Espanyol cannot be finalized.
In these final 24 hours of the summer transfer window, the Gunners are demonstrating significant ambition, actively seeking new forward options following the sale of Eddie Nketiah to Crystal Palace for approximately £30 million.
Several notable names have emerged in recent discussions, but a more recognizable figure, Brentford striker Ivan Toney, appears to be back on Edu’s radar as the deadline day approaches.
Arsenal engages in discussions with Toney as Edu strategizes a deadline day offer.
As reported by TEAMtalk, Arsenal has initiated late discussions with Toney through his representatives at CAA Stellar, and they are seriously contemplating a bid for the 28-year-old, who is also drawing interest from Chelsea as Enzo Maresca’s team seeks a new striker.
Edu and Arteta are reportedly considering a £50 million offer for Toney, who represented England at Euro 2024 earlier this summer.
However, other sources indicate that Brentford may hold out for a figure as high as £60 million.
It will be intriguing to observe Toney’s situation today, as his contract circumstances might compel Thomas Frank and his team to consider a reduced price.
