Reported Offer: Sources indicate that Edu has submitted a bid exceeding £40 million, which includes an Arsenal player, to secure the signing of a 26-year-old forward.

According to reports, Edu has proposed a bid of over £40 million, incorporating an Arsenal player, to secure the signing of a 26-year-old forward.

Arsenal’s Transfer Strategy

Following a solid 2-0 victory against Wolves in their Premier League opener, Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar remain proactive as the transfer window approaches its conclusion.

With the recent signing of Riccardo Calafiori, it seems the Gunners are implementing a one-in, one-out strategy, suggesting that player sales may be necessary to enhance their squad further.

The potential exit of a player could pave the way for Mikel Merino’s transfer from Real Sociedad, a move that has been anticipated throughout the summer.

As the transfer window nears its end, additional departures from north London are possible, with Aaron Ramsdale reportedly considering a move to Wolves in search of more playing time.

There is also considerable uncertainty surrounding the futures of Reiss Nelson and Jakub Kiwior, the latter having not been included in the matchday squad for the season’s opening match, while Nelson remained an unused substitute.

Arsenal had hoped to recruit a new forward, with Nico Williams previously linked to a move to the Emirates Stadium. Now, they may have identified another option.

Arsenal’s Bid for Forward

This new target appears to be Ademola Lookman, a standout performer in the Europa League, who is said to be the focus of Arsenal’s latest bid as they aim to strengthen their attacking options.

Lookman, who scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final, played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s victory over Bayer Leverkusen, marking their only defeat of the season. He had a remarkable domestic season with La Dea.

As he approaches the final two years of his £38,000-a-week contract in Bergamo, speculation has arisen this summer, particularly with reported interest from PSG.

However, it is Arsenal that has reportedly taken the initiative, as indicated by Italian sources cited by The Daily Mail. The Gunners are said to have made an offer of £42 million, along with defender Kiwior, in their pursuit of the forward.

The Mail further suggests that Arsenal’s proposal “has a chance of being accepted” due to Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini’s appreciation for Kiwior, who is capable of playing both left centre-back and left-back.

While Lookman, aged 26, primarily plays centrally for Atalanta, he is versatile enough to operate across the front line and has spent a significant portion of his Premier League career on the left wing.

There has been no indication that Atalanta has responded to Arsenal’s offer yet, but with the transfer window closing soon, a reply is expected shortly.

Considering Arsenal’s summer expenditures are likely to approach £80 million with the addition of Merino, investing an additional £40 million or more in a forward could fit within their budget at the Emirates.

However, it remains uncertain whether Lookman will be the player they ultimately pursue.
