Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a ‘world-class’ player has concluded discussions with other clubs and is solely interested in joining Arsenal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a ‘world-class’ player has put an end to discussions with other clubs and is set on joining Arsenal.

Arsenal remains a highly desirable destination for elite players.

The club faced challenges after Arsene Wenger’s exit, with Unai Emery’s tenure proving disastrous and Mikel Arteta initially struggling.

Nonetheless, Arsenal has shown significant improvement over the past two seasons, establishing itself as one of the top clubs globally. Many top players are eager to be part of Arteta’s project.

Riccardo Calafiori opted for Arsenal over Real Madrid, and now another world-class player has chosen to exclusively negotiate with the Gunners this transfer window.

Arsenal are on the verge of securing a transfer deal for Mikel Merino, a move that has been a top priority for the team.

With the departure of key players and injuries affecting the midfield, the addition of Merino is seen as crucial to strengthening the team.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Mikel Merino is well-known by now. The team is facing a shortage in midfield following the departures of Mohamed Elneny and Emile Smith Rowe. Additionally, Albert Sambi Lokonga has been loaned out, and Thomas Partey’s frequent injuries have made him an unreliable option.

Securing a new midfielder has been a top priority for Arsenal, and manager Arteta believes that the ‘world-class’ Merino is the ideal candidate to strengthen the team’s midfield.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are on the verge of signing Merino, with the journalist providing a recent update on the situation.

He has disclosed that Merino is eager to join the Gunners, to the extent that he has ceased all negotiations with other interested clubs such as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

This level of dedication is impressive, and we anticipate the completion of this deal in the upcoming days.

Romano mentioned in a video on his YouTube channel: “Arsenal remains highly optimistic about finalizing the Mikel Merino deal in the next few days because, as we mentioned earlier this week, Arsenal has a nearly finalized agreement with Real Sociedad regarding the package for Mikel Merino, valued at around €30 million.

“They are still deliberating on the deal’s structure and payment terms, so there are a few details left to iron out.

However, as we previously stated and I can confirm, Arsenal is on the verge of securing this deal for Mikel Merino. There are still some final stages to complete, but progress is being made smoothly.”

The deal is expected to be finalized soon as the player has agreed to join Arsenal. He has decided not to negotiate with Spanish clubs, despite having options with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. His preference is to move to the Premier League and specifically to Arsenal.

The player is keen to work under Mikel Arteta, who has been playing a significant role in Arsenal’s transfer activities.

Arteta was instrumental in the signings of Riccardo Calafiori and is now pushing for Mikel Merino’s arrival. The deal between Arsenal and Real Sociedad is in its final stages and progressing smoothly.

The contract is prepared, indicating that Mikel Merino will likely be Arsenal’s next signing following Riccardo Calafiori and David Raya, who recently joined on a permanent transfer from Brentford.

Who might Arsenal target following the acquisition of Merino?

Arsenal has prioritized the acquisition of a new left-back and midfielder, with Calafiori and Merino addressing these needs.

In addition to these positions, Arteta may look to strengthen the squad further by pursuing a striker and a winger in the upcoming weeks.

Reports indicate that Arsenal is willing to meet Napoli’s asking price for Victor Osimhen; however, the Nigerian forward has reportedly settled on personal terms with PSG, leaving the door slightly ajar for Arsenal.

Dominic Solanke has also surfaced as a potential signing for Arsenal, although Tottenham is showing interest in the player as well.

Regarding wingers, Pedro Neto from Wolves has been frequently linked to Arsenal, and there are also rumors about the club’s interest in Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

It is plausible that Arsenal will secure at least one of these players before the transfer window closes.
