Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the potential £43m signing of a winger for Arsenal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there are exciting developments regarding Arsenal’s pursuit of a £43m winger, with the deal being described as “incredible.”

According to Romano, Arsenal have not yet entered into any formal discussions regarding PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.

The Gunners are carefully considering their options, with Bakayoko attracting interest from multiple clubs.

Romano highlights Bakayoko’s talent, describing him as one of the most promising wingers in the current market.

Despite being focused on Euro 2024 with Belgium, Bakayoko is expected to have a busy summer transfer window following an impressive season in the Eredivisie.

Liverpool have also previously expressed interest in the young winger, particularly due to their manager Arne Slot’s familiarity with Bakayoko from his time in the Netherlands.

The 21-year-old is said to be on the market for £43 million this summer and is drawing interest from the Premier League for the second year in a row.

In a previous interview with the media, he mentioned that ex-Burnley manager Vincent Kompany reached out to him and shared his plans last summer, just before Burnley’s return to the Premier League.

Bakayoko, who had his first-team debut for PSV in 2022, is considered one of the most promising Belgian talents, alongside Jeremy Doku and Lois Openda.

However, Romano indicates that it is premature to speculate about his potential transfer to Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners are taking their time to decide whether they want to add a new wide-forward to their squad, alongside Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard.

The Gunners are being patient with Bakayoko’s potential deal. Fabrizio Romano, in an interview with GMS, mentioned that despite rumors, the deal is not on the verge of happening.

He stated, “I have seen the rumors, but currently, there is no solid evidence of any significant progress between Arsenal and Bakayoko.

He has attracted interest from various clubs and is undoubtedly one of the most skilled wingers in the market. However, Arsenal has not initiated serious discussions with the player or the club regarding Bakayoko, so it’s still early days.

I believe Arsenal will carefully consider their options before making a decision in that position. As of now, a deal for Bakayoko is not imminent or near completion.”

Following a close miss in the Premier League title race, Mikel Arteta’s team is gearing up for another summer of significant spending.

The Gunners made a splash last season by breaking their transfer record with the signing of Declan Rice, and they are poised to make more big-money moves despite a slow start to the transfer window.

As for Bakayoko, his future is expected to be decided after Euro 2024, where he played a key role in helping Belgium advance to the Round of 16.

Having impressed with PSV last season, the 21-year-old earned his first call-up to a major tournament after scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists in 33 Eredivisie appearances.

Eddie Nketiah is expected to leave Arsenal this summer, as reported by Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

The 25-year-old striker struggled to secure regular playing time under manager Mikel Arteta due to his lackluster goal-scoring record, managing only five goals in 27 league matches.

Various Premier League clubs such as Wolves, Crystal Palace, and Fulham are said to be interested in signing Nketiah, while Arsenal are looking to strengthen their attacking options with a new addition before the start of the upcoming season.
