Arsenal’s transfer targets for the striker position have reportedly been changed to a 26-year-old, as stated in the report.

Arsenal has changed their preferred striker transfer target to a 26-year-old player.

According to reports, Arsenal has changed their target for a striker transfer to 26-year-old Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners are determined to strengthen their squad with a top-quality center-forward in order to compete for the Premier League title in the 2024-25 season.

Initially, they were considering Victor Osimhen, but Napoli’s asking price of €130 million for the talented striker has led Arsenal to explore other options.

Tuttomercatoweb now suggests that Arsenal has turned their attention to Viktor Gyokeres, who currently plays for Sporting Lisbon.

The 26-year-old player has received high praise in Portugal after transferring from Coventry City to the Lions last summer.

During the previous season, he managed to score an impressive 29 goals and provide nine assists in 33 league matches, contributing to Sporting’s victory in the Primeira Liga.

Gyokeres is currently under contract at Estadio Jose Alvalade until 2028, with a release clause of €100 million.

It is improbable that Mikel Arteta’s team will meet the substantial release clause for the forward, so they will aim to discuss a reduced transfer fee.

The Swedish player is well-regarded for his physicality, speed, and prowess in the air. His scoring ability is top-notch, and he excels in connecting plays on the field.

At 26 years old, he could prove to be a smart acquisition for Arsenal, although it is uncertain if they will secure his signature in the current transfer period.

By bringing in a quality forward such as Gyokeres, they may have a chance to break their championship dry spell in the upcoming season.
