Arsenal looking to strengthen their team by signing the 21-year-old with 19 assists.

Arsenal is considering the possibility of acquiring a talented 21-year-old player who provided 19 assists in the previous season. A deal worth £46.5 million could potentially be reached.

The Athletic has reported that Arsenal is eyeing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams as a potential target for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Williams had an outstanding 2023/24 season with Bilbao, showcasing his skills with 8 goals and 19 assists in 37 appearances.

The young Spaniard has continued to impress at the European Championship, leading Arsenal to include him in their summer transfer wishlist.

Mikel Arteta, the Gunners manager, holds a high regard for his fellow countryman. Williams emerges as a top choice for Arteta in case Arsenal decides to bring in another winger.

Potential agreement.

Arsenal boasts a strong lineup in the wide attacking area. Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli are currently vying for the left-wing position, while Bukayo Saka has been a consistent starter on the opposite flank.

Nonetheless, Arteta might be seeking an alternative to Saka for the upcoming season.

Despite the Arsenal academy product’s impressive goal contributions, the manager could be looking to add more quality to the team to ease his workload.

Williams would be an excellent addition in that regard. Last season, he predominantly played on the left side of Bilbao’s attack, but in the 2022/23 season, he showcased his versatility by operating from the right wing position.

The Spanish player possesses exceptional dribbling skills and speed, allowing him to outmaneuver defenses.

Additionally, he has impressed with his defensive contributions, willingly engaging in duels and making crucial ball recoveries for his team.

Given his well-rounded abilities, Williams would seamlessly fit into Arteta’s plans. According to The Athletic, his contract includes a release clause of £46.5 million, and it is uncertain whether Bilbao would accept a lower offer to part ways with this talented attacker.

Considering his young age and immense potential, acquiring Williams for that price could prove to be a bargain in the current transfer market.

However, it remains to be seen if Arsenal can convince him to join without the guarantee of regular starts.
