Arsenal are on the verge of securing their first summer signing by closing in on a deal to bring Barcelona’s £40m Brazilian wonderkid to the Gunners.

Arsenal on the verge of securing £40m deal for Barcelona’s Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque, poised to become Gunners’ first summer signing.

Arsenal are preparing a £40m offer to secure the services of Brazilian youngster Vitor Roque from La Liga powerhouse Barcelona.

The Gunners are looking to kick off their summer transfer window with the signing of the highly-rated teenager. This move comes after Vitor Roque’s representative criticized former Barcelona manager Xavi for his treatment of the young Brazilian forward.

The potential deal is part of Arsenal’s recent trend of signing Brazilian talents, with sporting director Edu at the forefront of these acquisitions.

The North London club faces competition from other Premier League giants like Spurs and Manchester United, who have also been keeping a close eye on the situation since Barcelona acquired Roque from Athletico Paranaense.

Roque made his La Liga debut in January and scored his first goal in the same month. Despite only starting two games and not getting off the bench in Barca’s last three matches, Edu is keen on bringing the 19-year-old forward to London.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Roque has been supported by his agent Andre Curry, who criticized Barca boss Xavi for not giving the player more playing time.

“Everyone believes that Vitor Roque deserves more minutes, and it’s unclear why the coach [Xavi] isn’t providing them,” Roque’s agent Andre Cury stated on RAC1.

Xavi has not communicated with the player.

“I find this situation perplexing and believe it is not beneficial for either side.

I have advised the player to put in extra effort and be patient for an opportunity, yet I have also made efforts to provide him with playing time and visibility in matches to prevent this uncomfortable scenario.”

“I believe the team is conceding too many goals, which is not advantageous.”
