Arsenal’s pursuit of a top-tier midfielder seems to be intensifying as the summer approaches.

Despite their current focus on the title race, the Gunners are mindful of the upcoming transfer window and the need for new signings at the Emirates.

Various midfielders, including Bruno Guimaraes and Manu Kone, have been linked with the club. However, a recent report suggests that Arsenal has now submitted a bid for a player of ‘world class’ caliber.

Arsenal has extended an offer to Martin Zubimendi, as reported by TuttoJuve.

The offer, valued at €50m (£45m), is a formal proposal aimed at securing the player’s signature.

Although Zubimendi’s contract includes a release clause of €60m, Arsenal seems to be attempting to negotiate a lower price for the Spanish midfielder.

TuttoJuve’s report suggests that Juventus is also interested in Zubimendi, and Arsenal’s initial offer may ignite a competitive bidding process.

It will not be a straightforward task to secure the signing of Martin Zubimendi. Arsenal has initiated the bidding process in the competition to acquire him, but this agreement is expected to face challenges.

Zubimendi has displayed unwavering loyalty to Real Sociedad throughout his career, and being a local player, he might choose to remain with the club.

Nevertheless, Arsenal is optimistic that their manager, Mikel Arteta, who has connections with Real Sociedad, can influence Zubimendi’s decision, according to Dean Jones.

Zubimendi’s decision seems to require some convincing, as mentioned by Jones. Arsenal is banking on the fact that Mikel Arteta, who used to play for Real Sociedad and hails from San Sebastian, can persuade him.

This initial offer from Arsenal demonstrates their determination to finalize the deal. Although it remains uncertain whether the bid will be accepted, Arsenal is just €10m (£9m) short of triggering Zubimendi’s release clause.

This provides the Gunners with an alternative route to bypass the lengthy negotiations between clubs, if they so desire. It is definitely a situation worth monitoring closely.
