Update : Jurrien Timber returns, Thomas Partey starts – Arsenal dream North London Derby line-up vs Spurs…

Arsenal are gearing up to have Jurrien Timber back in action for the upcoming North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur. Timber, who joined from Ajax in the summer, suffered a knee injury early in the season.

However, after playing for Arsenal’s Under-21s recently, Mikel Arteta hinted at Timber’s potential involvement in Sunday’s match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Arsenal is ready to reintegrate Jurrien Timber into the first-team squad just in time for Sunday’s North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

After his much-awaited transfer from Ajax, the defender suffered a severe knee injury during the first league game of the season against Nottingham Forest in August. Progressing towards complete recovery, Timber played for Arsenal’s Under-21s on Monday evening, leading Mikel Arteta to suggest that he may feature at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

With the young player unlikely to be immediately put into the North London fire this weekend, Takehiro Tomiyasu is poised to start consecutive matches after being absent from the Wolverhampton Wanderers victory last Saturday as a precaution.

Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz have maintained their impressive goal-scoring streak during the 5-0 win over Chelsea on Tuesday night, making it difficult to imagine either being benched for the upcoming match.

As a result, Brazilian pair Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus will once again have to settle for a spot on the substitutes’ bench, alongside fellow attackers Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe.

Thomas Partey made his first Premier League start in over a month against Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues, and the Ghanaian is expected to keep his place alongside Declan Rice and the consistently impressive Martin Odegaard in Arsenal’s midfield.

Having doubled his goal tally in the top-flight campaign with a brace on Tuesday night, Ben White will aim to maintain his excellent form at right-back as the season draws to a close.

Projected Arsenal starting lineup: Raya; White, Gabriel, Saliba, Tomiyasu; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Trossard, Saka, Havertz.
