Arsenal is on the verge of securing a major attacking signing with two pivotal factors contributing to Arteta’s plans…
Arsenal are making progress in securing a significant attacking addition to support Mikel Arteta, with recent reports from Italy suggesting that Joshua Zirkzee is on his way to the Emirates.
Arteta’s current choices for strikers are Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, but this could change soon. Arteta has informed Arsenal’s sporting director Edu Gaspar that he requires a more effective center-forward to take over from Jesus and score a minimum of 25 goals per season.
As a result, there have been rumors linking Arsenal with various forwards, such as Zirkzee, Ivan Toney, Benjamin Sesko, and Viktor Gyokeres.
Initially, Arsenal appeared to be interested in signing Brentford’s Toney, but they have now shifted their focus to Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
However, recent reports suggest that Arsenal is prioritizing the acquisition of Zirkzee, who currently plays for Bologna in Italy. It has been reported that Arsenal has reached an agreement on personal terms with Zirkzee and is also making progress in negotiations with Bologna for a potential €60million (£51m) deal.
Gazzetta dello Sport has provided an update stating that AC Milan and Inter Milan are still in contention for the 22-year-old’s signature, but Arsenal poses a significant threat.
Given the financial difficulties faced by Italian clubs, Milan and Inter are unlikely to match any bid made by Arsenal for Zirkzee.
As a result, Arsenal now has a great chance of securing the services of the promising striker and securing him on a long-term contract.
Arsenal’s significant financial resources make it highly probable that the Dutchman will join Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli next season. Additionally, Zirkzee finds Arsenal’s style of play to be ideal, offering both enjoyment and significant development opportunities.
Zirkzee may not be at the same level as top strikers like Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak, with 12 goals in 34 appearances this season. Nevertheless, Arsenal scouts believe he has the potential to become a lethal goalscorer in the future.
Zirkzee’s skill and ability to connect with teammates suggest he can offer a well-rounded contribution to Arteta’s team in the long term.
Despite the excitement among Arsenal fans for Gyokeres, Zirkzee’s £51m price tag is considerably lower than the £86m valuation of the Sporting ace.
