Ruben Amorim urges Liverpool to provide funding for an extravagant £120m triple transfer overhaul, with the intention of replacing three of Klopp’s star players
Ruben Amorim demands that Liverpool provide the necessary funds for a £120m triple transfer splurge, which would see three of Klopp’s heroes being replaced.
Ruben Amorim has reportedly identified three high-profile signings to kick off his Liverpool tenure in a grand manner.
He has tasked sporting director Richard Hughes with finding replacements for three key players from the Jurgen Klopp era. As Klopp prepares to depart Anfield after nearly nine successful years, Liverpool will undergo significant changes this summer.
Klopp’s legacy at the club includes seven trophies and four major European finals, solidifying his status as one of Liverpool’s greatest managers.
While Klopp and his team aim to secure more silverware before his departure, the focus behind the scenes is on securing a worthy successor to the iconic German coach.
Michael Edwards, the newly appointed CEO of football at Anfield, is leading the search for a successor to Jurgen Klopp.
His aim is to ensure that the post-Klopp era on Merseyside is just as successful. Xabi Alonso, who was initially considered for the role, has publicly pledged his loyalty to Bayer Leverkusen, ruling himself out of contention.
As a result, the focus has now shifted to Sporting CP coach Amorim. Amorim, a highly regarded young coach, is also on track to win the domestic title this season, much like Alonso.
Although Amorim has denied any agreement with Liverpool, it would be surprising if he is not chosen as Klopp’s successor this summer.
TEAMtalk has learned that discussions have indeed taken place between the agent of Sporting coach Ruben Amorim and representatives of Liverpool FC, despite the coach’s previous denials. Amorim has expressed his desire to coach the Reds to his superiors at Sporting Lisbon, should an agreement be reached.
According to reports, there is a possibility of a three-year contract being offered to Amorim at Anfield, with Fabrizio Romano stating that the cost of bringing him to Liverpool could be around €10m (£8.5m). This is significantly lower than the original €20m (£17m) exit clause in his current deal.
Furthermore, Football Insider has now revealed that as part of these discussions, Amorim has provided Liverpool’s incoming sporting director Richard Hughes with a list of three players he would like to sign in the summer. It is believed that two of these players are from Amorim’s current Sporting CP team, potentially reuniting with the coach on Merseyside.
Amorim has reportedly requested Liverpool’s management to negotiate the signings of two talented players, Goncalo Inacio and Marcus Edwards, as part of the discussions to bring him to Anfield. Despite the hefty price tags attached to both players, with Inacio having a €60m (£51.4m) release clause and Edwards valued at €35m (£30m), Amorim considers them crucial additions to start his tenure in a stylish manner.
Furthermore, Amorim is said to have expressed interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s wing-back, Alex Grimaldo, who has had an exceptional season in Germany following his move from Benfica on a free transfer. Despite being primarily a defender, Grimaldo has contributed an impressive 26 goals this season while operating as an advanced wing-back.
Grimaldo’s market value is estimated at €45m (£38.6m), which means that acquiring all three players would require Liverpool to spend a staggering £120m.
As part of the agreement, it is suggested that Amorim has a strong focus on Liverpool’s future, as three key players from the Klopp era are expected to be replaced.
Edwards is viewed as a potential replacement for Mo Salah on the wing, as the Egyptian is rumored to secure a groundbreaking transfer to Saudi Arabia in the upcoming summer.
Inacio, a left-sided center-back, is seen as an ideal partner for Virgil van Dijk, as Joel Matip is set to depart as a free agent this summer.
Furthermore, Grimaldo is considered an upgrade for Andy Robertson. Although Robertson is unlikely to leave Anfield in the near future, he has faced injury setbacks this season and, at the age of 30, it is believed that his prime years are now behind him. This season, the Scottish star has recorded only two assists, a significant decrease from his usual tally.
