Ruben Amorim has reportedly reached a preliminary agreement to take on the role of Liverpool’s next manager, but there is a possibility that rival Premier League clubs could disrupt the deal.

Sporting manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly in talks to take over as the next manager of Liverpool, according to Sky Germany.

The 39-year-old has allegedly agreed to a verbal deal in principle for a three-year contract to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

Despite this, sources in Liverpool have denied the claims made by Sky Germany, stating that the deal has yet to be finalized.

Amorim has emerged as one of the top contenders for the managerial position at Anfield after Xabi Alonso withdrew himself from consideration two weeks ago.

According to a report by Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, there seems to be a preliminary agreement between Liverpool and Amorim, with both parties showing keen interest.

However, Plettenberg also mentioned that Bayern Munich and Chelsea, two prominent clubs in the Bundesliga and Premier League respectively, have also expressed their interest in acquiring the services of the Sporting boss.

Plettenberg stated, “I have been informed that there is now a verbal agreement in principle with Liverpool!”

Amorim is eyeing a move to [Liverpool] for the upcoming season, with Liverpool actively pursuing him in recent weeks. A contract extension until 2027 is on the table – confirmed!

“Final discussions with Sporting are still pending. The deal is not finalized yet. There are more steps to be taken. The agreement could still collapse.

“The 39-year-old was also a target for FC Bayern, but talks never progressed. Chelsea has shown interest in him.”

Last week, Amorim acknowledged that he could not guarantee his stay at Sporting beyond the current season.

When questioned if he could emulate Bayer Leverkusen manager Alonso by confirming his commitment, he responded: “No, I cannot provide any assurances.”

He further stated: “Sporting is planning for the future, and I cannot make a decision now. I have given my word, and I cannot backtrack on that. If I do not achieve success, I will depart from Sporting.”
