Liverpool is currently enjoying a successful season across all competitions, but the question remains whether they can maintain their momentum under new leadership next season.

The club has identified Xabi Alonso as their top choice to replace Klopp at Anfield, and recent reports suggest that Liverpool is prepared to negotiate the terms of a contract with the Spanish coach.

TEAMtalk reveals that the Reds have extended a three-year offer to secure the services of the current Bayer Leverkusen coach.

Furthermore, it has been stated that with Michael Edwards being re-appointed as the CEO of Football, the Reds are appearing to be leading the way in the competition to attract Alonso.

Edwards is expected to bring Richard Hughes on board as the sporting director, who already has a strong connection with the representative of the Anfield legend, Inaki Ibanez.

Liverpool successfully advanced to the quarter-finals of the Europa League last night by defeating Sparta Prague 6-1 at Anfield (11-2 on aggregate).

Conversely, Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen made a comeback from being two goals behind and scored two goals in injury time to defeat Qarabag.

The German team remains undefeated in the ongoing season, and I believe Liverpool fans would be thrilled if they were drawn against Leverkusen in the quarter-finals.

It would be great to see Xabi back at Anfield, experiencing the electric atmosphere of a European night as an opposing manager.

This could also give supporters a chance to convince the Spanish coach to join the team. Stay tuned for updates on how this story develops.
