Liverpool possible lineup against Manchester City: Szoboszlai return to the starting XI ; Salah in for Gakpo as Klopp lineup a strong team…
Liverpool supporters will be anticipating the return of Mohamed Salah to the starting XI as they prepare to face Manchester City at Anfield this Sunday.
The Reds will be aiming to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League standings as they take on City at home.
Despite several key players being unavailable, fans will be pleased to hear that Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, and Mohamed Salah are expected to feature in the match-day squad.
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed during his pre-match press conference that Konate’s situation is quite positive after being substituted off against Sparta Prague due to a knock. In addition, Gomez and Salah emerged unharmed from their midweek match and are expected to be involved in the upcoming game.
“Joe [Gomez] is perfectly fine, he’s fresh. As for Ibou, I’m not sure,” Klopp informed the reporters. He further added, “Ibou seemed rather positive last night [Thursday], believing that he made the right decision by coming off. However, we know that such assessments don’t hold much weight, unfortunately.
He will undergo a scan, and I’m still awaiting the results. Thankfully, everyone else is in good condition.”
Regarding Salah, the Liverpool manager stated that there are no concerns and he is in good condition.
However, Liverpool will be missing several key players including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, and Thiago Alcantara.
To fill in for Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher will step up. He has been performing exceptionally well in his recent matches and will aim to make an impact against Manchester City. Joe Gomez and Andrew Robertson are expected to take on the roles of full-backs, contributing both defensively and offensively. Ibrahima Konate will partner with Virgil van Dijk in the central defensive position.
The defensive midfielder position in the middle of the park will be occupied by Wataru Endo, who will aim to disrupt the opposition’s attacks and provide a shield for the backline.
Adding creativity, control, and determination to the Liverpool midfield will be Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Leading the line for Liverpool against Manchester City will be Darwin Nunez, supported by Mohamed Salah on the right and Luis Diaz on the left.
Projected Liverpool starting lineup: Kelleher; Gomez, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
