Jurgen Klopp provides an update on a significant injury concern for Liverpool ahead of their clash with Manchester City.

Liverpool will face Manchester City at Anfield in what is considered the most important Premier League match of the season thus far.

Klopp has revealed that Ibrahima Konate’s availability for the game is uncertain as he is currently undergoing assessment following a muscle injury. The defender’s status for Sunday’s match against Manchester City remains in doubt.

During Liverpool’s 5-1 victory over Sparta Prague in the Europa League last-16 first leg, Konate suffered a hamstring injury and had to be substituted early in the second half. He received medical attention on the field before being replaced.

Klopp provided an update on the team’s injury situation, expressing uncertainty about Ibou Konate’s availability for the upcoming match against City.

The manager mentioned that Konate felt that pushing himself further during a sprint could have resulted in a more severe injury.

As a precautionary measure, Konate will undergo a scan to determine the extent of the issue. Klopp also confirmed that Joe Gomez is in good condition, but the results of Konate’s scan are still pending.

In addition to Konate, several other players, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak, are expected to be sidelined for the game on Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold will not be participating in the upcoming match on Sunday, however, the right-back injected some additional intensity into the game by suggesting that Liverpool’s single Premier League title held more significance for them than City’s multiple titles. Erling Haaland and Ruben Dias both responded to the comments made by the English star, but Klopp has shown his support for his player.

“I am not sure how many times we need to reiterate in this club how much we respect City. Pep is the top manager in the world,” Klopp acknowledged. “I am content with my life not even coming close to that, with incredible players like the best No.9, and De Bruyne who will be remembered alongside Steven Gerrard. Just imagine that conversation! Phil Foden, the finest English player.

“Trent comprehends this, but he is a Liverpool supporter at heart, he was on the sidelines even before stepping onto the pitch. Our motto ‘This Means More’ signifies that it holds more significance for us. Two years ago, we held a celebration after losing the Champions League the night before and the Premier League. Show me another city that would celebrate in such a manner as if they had won?”

This club holds a special place in our hearts. Therefore, if we have strong feelings about it, why not express them? I personally do not pay much attention to external opinions. It’s all about how he genuinely feels. I was informed about it, and I am quite confident that he also displayed utmost respect.

Manchester City has been the most successful team in years, and possibly even in Europe. Their record is truly remarkable and holds significant value for their supporters, I believe. Perhaps, for us, it’s because we haven’t won as much.

It’s not a matter of winning five or six times, with the fifth victory being the best. That’s the gist of it. We appreciate interviews where individuals speak their minds and the world reacts. It’s perfectly fine to have our own thoughts. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with what Trent said.
