West Ham United and Manchester United are reportedly vying for the signature of a promising young defender from Ligue 1. Arouna Sangante, who currently plays for Le Havre, has attracted interest from both clubs.

According to Football Insider, West Ham and Nottingham Forest made unsuccessful loan bids for Sangante during the January transfer window.

However, Le Havre is only willing to let him go on a permanent deal if they decide to part ways with the talented centre-half. As a result, a potential bidding war between West Ham and Manchester United could ensue in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, both West Ham and Nottingham Forest made unsuccessful bids for Arouna Sangante on the final day of the January transfer window.

These bids were believed to be in the form of potential loans, but Le Havre showed no interest in entertaining them. If they were to let Sangante leave the club, it would only be on a permanent deal.

However, West Ham and Nottingham Forest are not the only clubs that have been linked with a move for Sangante. In November, teams like Chelsea, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan were all said to be tracking the player’s progress. However, there have been no further updates on any interest from these top clubs.

Considering this, what qualities would Arouna Sangante bring to West Ham United?

Sangante, a formidable and versatile defender, would undoubtedly be a valuable addition to West Ham’s defensive line. With four center-backs currently on their roster, including the aging Ogbonna whose contract is set to expire, it is crucial for the Hammers to secure a replacement to avoid a shortage of defenders in the upcoming season.

At just 21 years old, Sangante possesses immense potential and his prime years are still ahead of him. Standing at an impressive height of 6ft 2, coupled with his powerful physique, he appears well-equipped to thrive in the demanding environment of the English Premier League. Notably, he has already showcased his abilities by making 17 appearances in Ligue 1 for Le Havre this season.
