‘100 per cent’: Mike Dean firmly believes that the referee committed a significant mistake during the match between Liverpool and Fulham…
Mike Dean asserts that a significant mistake was made by the referee during the match between Liverpool and Fulham.
According to Mike Dean, the referee made a major error in the Liverpool versus Fulham game.
The two teams are currently engaged in a heated contest at Anfield, which has proven to be quite intense in the Premier League.
Liverpool’s performance has not met expectations, as Andreas Pereira has put Marco Silva’s team ahead with a 1-0 scoreline.
The situation deteriorated further for Liverpool when Andy Robertson received a red card for a reckless tackle on Harry Wilson.
Although Arne Slot’s team has not performed at their best, Mike Dean believes the home side suffered from a critical refereeing error.
Dean claims that Andreas Pereira should have been shown a red card during the Liverpool vs Fulham match.
The match began with a high level of aggression, resulting in bookings for players like Issa Diop and Luis Diaz due to early fouls.
Pereira was also cautioned for a reckless challenge on Ryan Gravenberch, where he stomped on the Dutch midfielder’s leg after being beaten.
While Pereira received a yellow card for this incident, Mike Dean argues that it warranted a red card due to its severity.
“Pereira caught Gravenberch on the top of his Achilles and went in hard. He was nowhere near the ball,” Dean stated via Sky Sports.
“He was fully aware of his actions. It’s undoubtedly a red card.”
This decision proved costly for Liverpool, as Pereira later scored, shocking the Anfield supporters.
Regarding Robertson’s suspension, his red card means Liverpool will have to finish the match with ten players.
Moreover, since he was sent off for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity, he will miss the upcoming domestic match against Southampton in the EFL Cup.
It remains uncertain whether Liverpool will appeal Robertson’s red card, but for now, they will focus on trying to recover in a game that could be pivotal for their title aspirations.
